Reviews of Snowshoe House Had a wonderful stay! Reviewed by Chuck on 1/11/2012 My wife and I stayed at the Snowshoe House for our honeymoon, and we had a fantastic time. I cannot say enough about the floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows! The view was wonderful, and even though you're in a neighborhood with other houses you'd never know it - the trees and wilderness outside the windows keeps everything private and beautiful. We also really enjoyed the hot tub, the outdoor grill, and the convenience of the gas fireplace. The front door of this house is literally about 30 yards from the shuttle stop that takes you to Winter Park Ski Resort. While there are two bathrooms, there is only one shower so groups of 6 or more would probably need to plan accordingly. The kitchen is very well appointed, but a little small so cooking large meals for big groups might be a little difficult at times. Also, the lighting upstairs may seem a bit... odd. There is only one private bedroom, but there is plenty of room to sleep others. And no matter where you are in the house, everyone gets to enjoy the view of the continental divide! In all, the house is charming even in its quirks. We had a great time, and would highly recommend this to anyone as a place to stay for a romantic getaway or a group ski vacation.P.S. - The white fox that they say visits the house is definitely real! He came right up onto the back porch on the first night we were there! Great location, view, and value Reviewed by Mardi Gras Getaway on 3/24/2011 We received very detailed directions for getting to the house as well as how to access the lock. Such a sinch to get in and since it was pretty late when we arrived, that was a bonus. We've been skiing at Winter Park for 3 years (and have used Winter Park Lodging all 3 years) and the experience has always been easy and the company is always accessible with questions. This was the first year that we stayed off property in the town of Winter Park so we weren't sure what to expect.Best part of the stay was by far, the hot tub! Having a hot tub to ourselves outside with a wooded / semi-private view was outstanding and we used it every night. My husband and I have 2 teenagers and an 11 year old so with all of the beds, they had plenty to choose from and everyone was happy. The house had plenty of seating and room for everyone and by splitting showers between night and morning, we never ran out of hot water. The downside is that the house was very hot in the morning. The morning sun hits the side of the house with all the windows and it can be sweltering upstairs by 7:00am. We were able to open the sliding doors and windows up stairs and down stairs to cool down but I'm not sure how it would be in the summer months when it isn't 20 degrees outside to help cool the house. We skiied at Winter Park every day and were out of the house by 8:00 and usually home by 5:00. Perfect for relaxing, using the hot tub, and cooking dinner. They had all of the normal pots / pans we needed to prepare meals which was a plus so we could save some money. All in all, it is a cute and roomy house in a cute little part of town. I would recommend this house to anyone who doesn't mind sleeping in open areas (only the Master has a seperate room) and has a lot of people. If we come back to Winter Park again for our ski vacation, we'll definitely be renting this house again. | | | | | | | |
