Reviews of Zephyr 2419 Nice cozy condo, but not exactly ski in/ski out Reviewed by TNZ on 3/16/2011 This was a nice cozy condo at the Zephyr Riverside complex. If you know much about the location of the complex (which we didn't), you know that this condo sits on the side of the walkway that runs through Winterpark Village which is opposite the ski mountain. Therefore, you can't technically ski in or ski out of the front door of the condo complex. However, the walk from the snow to the complex is probably only 100 yards. It was just a bit disappointing given my ski in/ski out experiences at Copper, Steamboat and Crested Butte.Other than this, the stay in the condo was great! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The place is clean, well-appointed and nicely decorated. There is a wonderful gas fireplace and a Bose CD/DVD player. We had 4 adults and 1 child in our group, so it was a little crowded. However, it was manageable. The sofa sleeper is miserable, so I wouldn't recommend putting adults or children who are very particular about where they sleep on it. The couch is very nice, but the mattress is uniquely designed with the springs inside of it (not sure what engineer came up with that design?). I am not picky about where I sleep as we camp a lot and the ground is fine with me. But this was very uncomfortable!Winterpark Lodging Company was very helpful providing us information and discounts for lift tickets, restaurants and shops. The Zephyr Mt. Lodge is nice and has a shuttle that provides you a lift to the free parking if you aren't interested in paying $14/day for the underground parking. We would certainly stay here again if I was slated to stay in the bedroom rather than on the sleeper sofa! Great convenient location Reviewed by Aussie in Denver on 3/9/2011 Fantastic location short walk from Zephyr Lift. Bit of a pain to have to walk across half the village to the ticket office though, but not an issue if you have multi day ticket or season pass. So much better than staying somewhere else and having to drive and park or take the shuttle.Well equipped kitchen with all the cookware, utensils and silverware you need to make your own meals. Big fridge, 4 burner stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher (loud - don't run it when people trying to sleep in living room). Wired internet access fast and reliable, but no wireless. Location of network port means you are restricted to using internet on the kitchen counter. Solve by bringing own WiFi access pt.Sofa sleeper extremely uncomfortable. Sags and you can feel each piece of the metal frame through
thin mattress. Sags so much you can't lie flat, you are in V shape. Get ready for a one way trip to backache city if you sleep on this. Small kids OK on it. We had 10 and 6yr olds on it - they complained but did end up sleeping OK.Single fold out bed handy for a 5th person. Cushion is in 3 pieces and they slide apart despite some strips of cloth (some missing) on the bottom to tie the pieces to the frame. But brace the bed against the wall or put something like a chair at the foot of it and you will hold the 3 piece mattress together well enough to sleep on.Queen bed in bedroom very comfortable and plenty of cupboard and drawer space. They have a good collection of Dvd's and books in the room, some quality movies there and good reading. There are some board games but unplayable as pieces are missing.Private lockup ski locker on the 1st floor is great! Get the elevator down in the morning, get your skis from the locker, out the door and onto the snow (unless you have to go to the ticket office).Check in was quick and easy, and front desk staff are helpful. Downstairs parking well worth it at $14/day.Overall a great stay. Definitely would stay here again. Great Location for ski families! Reviewed by Midwest Ski Racer on 4/6/2010 This fully equipped condo with a queen bedroom and sofa pullout was quiet, had a great view out both sides; bedroom and balcony. We were able to lay in bed and see the moon on clear nights through the skylight! It is a pretty small space to put 4 people, but we managed by moving some of the excess furniture out of the way. We did have 3 problems in 2419; a toilet needed repair turning on and off all night, the single bed/chair was broken and could only be used propped up at a strange angle on the wall, the front of it completely smashed and a spring fell out when we tried to open it, and there weren't enough blankets in the condo, the ones we found were covered in what looked like black dog hair. All these problems were taken care of by management with only one friendly call. I would warn the next visitors to 2419 that it gets very hot in the unit during the day and we had to keep the balcony door open a crack to get it cooler, then during the night sometime after 2am it gets much colder and you really need extra blankets at least 2 for each bed. The heat can not be controlled from inside the unit for some reason. I would think that during the daytime it is quite a waste of heating money to heat to about 80 degrees, and have to have a door open. We could not figure out how to open the windows, or they were stuck, so we used the door. The 4th floor condo was styled very nicely in rustic ski camp style and served excellently as our base of operations with everything you could ask for just outside the building. In the future I would say that the next upgrade to the condo besides replacing the sleeper chair would be to replace the tub and tile to a more modern one piece system. It was worn and dated, unable to clean to a shine, with some mildew at the connection of the tile wall and tub. Another addition that would make the property much nicer would be a bathroom exhaust fan. With 4 people using one bathroom it was damp and smelly without outside exhaust. | | | | | | | |
